A Message from the Principal. . .

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Choctaw Elementary and the 2022-2023 school year! Choctaw Elementary is a Great Expectations Model School. This is an achievement that our staff, students and the community can be very proud. Great Expectations is a professional development program that provides teachers and administrators with the skills needed to create harmony and excitement within the school atmosphere, elements that are basic for inspiring students to pursue academic excellence. The mission is to motivate, inspire, and challenge individuals to achieve excellence in learning and living. Our teachers have attended continuing educational courses through Great Expectations; specifically the 17 Practices of Great Expectations as part of their daily instruction.

Parents are provided with an online ParentPortal system which provides student information such as current grades, attendance and lunch balances. Please, make sure your contact information on the ParentPortal is current so that we might contact you on SchoolReach via text, email or phone call for special announcements.

Choctaw Elementary is a School for Healthy Lifestyles. Our staff continues to train and to promote healthy choices for eating and exercising good physical, academic, emotional and overall mental health.

Our children love the DreamCatcher Playground! It is a thrilling experience for ALL students; disabled or nondisabled. We are proud of the fact that we can provide our community with a fun, healthy option for family activities outside the school day as well.

As you might have gathered, we are a family oriented school. The students and staff work very well together to provide a safe, caring, nurturing, achievement oriented atmosphere. Our Parent Teacher Organization has become such a key group in promoting this atmosphere and supporting our school’s values and mission. I would encourage you to seek ways in which you can be a part of our school community.

As for me….
Professionally: I started teaching in the Moore Public School system as an elementary teacher in 1992 and have continued in education since; 25 years. I won’t tell you how old I was when I began teaching, due to the fact that my students are able to do math! Prior to Choctaw, I served as an Assistant Principal for six years for Edmond Public Schools, Edmond Oklahoma. This is my eleventh year as the principal of Choctaw Elementary. I belong to several professional organizations and currently serve on the board of the Oklahoma Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (OASCD).  We should never stop learning.

As with every year, I want to thank you for allowing me the privilege of teaching your child. My goal is to be a positive role model and to provide a school that will allow for the best possible education for your child. My hope is to work with parents, teachers, and district and state personnel to benefit all students. I am very proud of this responsibility.
